Evil, Which We Call Crime

Look, I'm not trying to bring this down in anyway, but watch about 30 seconds of the video, then think to yourself... "Ray Lewis killed a guy."

Reverend Ray Lewis in an interview with ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, talked about a wide array of football topics, including the NFL Lockout. Lewis hypothesized that if there is no NFL season, the crime rates around the country will rise.

Am I the only one who thinks this is absolutely ridiculous?

"Do this research if we don't have a season--watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up, if you take away our game,"

This is the same guy who in this same interview said that he doesn't get into words because "they take away from life," and who starts half of his responses by going "ah!"

Lewis claims that there is nothing else to do for some people, which is why the crime rates will spike. I mean, I agree to an extent, because look at how many average Joe's that work at the stadium will be out of jobs. But at the same time, football has one game on Thursday, one on Monday, and is played Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. It is not like baseball where the teams play every day, and nor will a football game being on TV make someone less inclined to commit a crime, that's absurd.

Ray Lewis, maybe without realizing, is getting himself involved with these same words that take away from life. He is not representing the players in the courtroom, but this interview will not go unnoticed as his support for the players, albeit in the defense of the everyday man.

I Had To Post It

In case people are unsure of what interview Ben was talking about, or if you just haven't seen it in a while, here it is. Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman.

I've never been a big fan of Letterman, like when he says he doubts Phoenix will be on performing his music like a douche bag. But when he drops the Unabomber line, then with Joaquin asking about his thumb with some outstanding detective skills, its just too much. I couldn't not watch the whole thing. I still have no idea what to make of this, but that's up to you guys in Blog City.

Bow In The Presence of Greatness

Congratulations on the ornithological name, following in the footsteps of guys like The Byrds, Black Crowes and The Eagles. Any reason?
Thanks, but I really don't have a good answer. It's two words that make people ask that question - but the beauty of it may be in the ambiguity.

From an interview with BBC. What a great line from this guy. Who knew such talent could come leaping out of his parents basement in Owatonna, Minnesota. Don't get me wrong though, I can get down with some Owl City. Coming to the House of Blues in Boston April 23rd. Tickets are $20. Whyyy wouldn't you go to that?
