Bonfire Blue - Take A Listen

Bonfire Blue - 'Get Down' from Taylor Noll on Vimeo.

Bonfire Blue

Chris Conway formed Bonfire Blue almost a year ago, and has already put out some of his best music. And as he puts it, he hasn't even come close to the band's potential yet. You can download their 6-song album on the link above, or just watch their first music video.

Comment here and let us know what you think of Bonfire Blue. But most importantly, take a listen, download the songs, and enjoy.

Weekender's Top iPod Jams

Since Ben usually does some of the heavier stuff, I thought I'd throw down some indie and acoustic and whatever else comes to mind.

Just heard this song the other day, haven't even heard the real version, but the acoustic version is amazing. So simple, amazing melody, especially during the chorus.

Next song is one I can't get out of my head, by a pretty solid band, The New Pornographers. They have an awesome sound, with some real good songs mixed in, this being one of them.

For the country fans out there, I've been big into The Band Perry lately, and I'm all about the simplicity of this song, just a good listen.

One, fun band called 'fun.' Two, music video involved a mob of girls running around, so its gold.

Weekenders Top 5 Jams of the Week

First up we got a new one from Drake and Weezy called Right above it. Very tight track but what else do we expect from these two young thugs.

Next up a new one from Wiz Khalifa titled Fly Solo. A good pick to toss in the ear buds and get a dose of that 'crack music'.

Switching up our style over here at the weekend we have The Avett Brothers - Head full of doubt. Miss Platz put the boys at the weekend on to this track and this shit is dope, check it out.

At numero quatro we have Wale - The War. This is off his new mixtape called More About Nothing. Props to my boy cbiz for showing me this mixtape.

Kanye West, Beyonce, and Charlie Wilson top off the weekends top jams with a new track called see me now. This is what I'm talking about I cant wait for Kanye's new album, 808's was interesting but didn't hold a candle to his first two albums. Anyways here is the track...

So next time your at a party toss on one of these jams and be just as cool as us over here at the weekend. Cheers!

Weekender's Top iPod Jams

So Ben's been taking most of the music write-ups, bringing you the tougher side of the Weekend's style. I'm going to take things a different route, and give you a little taste of the softer side of the Weekend.

Going to see Zac Brown on August 15th in Hartford, should be an awesome show. This is probably my favorite song of all time, and I'm a huge fan of the cover. From their live album "Pass the Jar' released in May.

Guster just goofing around in the studio, but giving you a sample of their new single "Do You Love Me?" from their upcoming album "Easy Wonderful" set to release in October.

I put this one on here for a number of reasons: One, Sox fans, even though we're not at home this weekend, we need to put forth the same effort we would at home to hear this song blast at the end of a game. Two, its a great song altogether. Three, is the drummer supposed to be singing? I have no clue what's going on there.

Weekenders Top Five Ipod Jams

First we have Kid Cudi - Know why. Listen I know this isn't the latest track out there it came out in January or something, however its been getting more play time on my pod so check it out.

Coming in second with a solid heavy beat that you can certainly jam out to is Daft Punk - Prestige. This jam is going to be in the up coming movie remake of Tron so get out and check it.

Third is the new Mike Posner single from his up coming album 31 minutes to take off called Bow chicka. Something I would throw on if I was hanging with the ladies but I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet, not top notch from Posner.

Fourth we got an older jam that came out a few weeks back called Super High by Rick Ross but this time we got Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y on the track.

Finally ending this weeks picks we got Bow Wow - Why They Hating. I'm not a huge Bow Wow fan but this song can bump for sure so its worth a play. WOOF WOOF!

There you have it folks, get out your blank CD's or your Ipods and toss these jams on your play list for when your cruising the hood. ye dig?

Simply Amazing

So I'm willing to bet you ended up on this site for one of two reasons: a) because you're a friend of ours, and we asked you too, or b) you're a friend of ours, and you were bored. If you're the latter, this article is for you. Who doesn't love wasting time on the internet? And who doesn't love music?

http://lab.andre-michelle.com/pulsate

Stumbled across this site earlier today, and thought I'd bring it to the attention of our viewers. The site has a black screen right in the center. Click on the screen, and you'll see it creates a ring. Click multiple times, multiple rings. What happens when these rings run into each other? Boom, music.

Click just below the window, and you'll see other options for making music, such as the one at the top of the article, my personal favorite. Bum around, click stuff, make some music and waste some time.

Weekenders Top iPod Jams

Over at The Weekend, we decided we would toss out a new weekly blog of some of the top songs on our iPods right now, and this week here are the top few.....

Here's another on point Kid Cudi song ft. Rostam Batmanglij and Bethany Cosentino. If you haven't gotten into it already, give it a listen.

Next up we have Donnis, "Eat You Alive," from his new mix-tape "Fashionably Late".

Bam! Mike Posner coming in hard on this fresh techno/synth beat with another hit. I have been waiting a minute for the full version of this song to come out and here it is. Mike Posner - Please Dont Go.

Big Boi goes hard on this heavy beat, has a very intense feel to it gotta love the church choir in the back going hard. Good looks GiantRyan for keeping the weekend up to speed with the latest and greatest. Big Boi - General Patton.

And for all you Crunk Loving Hyphy-getting goons out there, we have our Crunk Jam of the week!!! This week it's Lil Jon and Young Jeezy going wild on this track called Jizzle. YEAH!!

Kid Cudi - Erase me

In case your light years behind on what Cudi has been up to you should check out his song Erase me with Kanye. It's got a mellow vibe good for the stoner's or just down to earth folks out there. Also check out another song that came out a while back but is worth a mention Kid Cudi - Cudders Back. Its got a pretty cool video that's worth the 3 minute watch, so give it a try.

Quick question: What do our now 15 strong followers think about posting up some links to new, good music? Hopefully they're into it, because its going to be a recurring theme.

You Need These...

This blog is way too small time for plugs and advertisements, but I figure it really can't hurt to throw a few words out.

If we have any soccer, or football, fans out there, then my buddy Jackson just started up his old blog titled, The Wrong Side of the Atlantic. He used to work for the Weekend, but has gone on to lesser, but probably better things. Check it out. Now.

If you're a music guy like myself, then you're going to want to get some Bonfire Blue in your life. The band is made up of the man, the myth, and the legend...Chris Conway. He started out in a band Tag & Release, put out some songs under his solo/full name, Christopher Conway, and now goes by the name of Bonfire Blue. If you're looking for some solid indie, or just solid music in general, then look no further, boys and girls. You're welcome.

With yo' PANTS ON DA GROUND!

William Hung can't hold a candle to this guy. Not even Carl Lewis or Roseanne could. If someone knows whether or not this masterpiece is on iTunes, let me know immediately. Nothing says Hotlanta quite like an appearance by the General. The real question is, was this an attempt by American Idol to boost ratings, or was it just destiny that this jive turkey happened to be in the right place at the right time, unveiling what is undoubtedly the biggest hit this decade has seen since 'Fireflies'?

Music Review - Mos Def -- 'The Ecstatic'

Never been to heavy into rap or hip-hop, but recently I've found that there are some songs that are just plain good. What brought my attention to this, was all the "End of the Year Top" yada yada yada lists. I looked at numerous top albums of the year lists, from ESPN to Rolling Stone. I stumbled upon Mos Def's latest, went out and bought it, and I can say I'm a fan.

The CD kicks off with a track called "Supermagic," that opens with an excerpt from a speech by Malcolm X at Oxford University, and rolls into Mos Def's signature musical-rapping. "Twilite Speedball" features some hot-and-heavy horn samples backing what seems to be an almost chronicling of Mos Def's career in a dark yet redeeming sense. "Auditorium" with Slick Rick is in my opinion the perfect example of what I mean. Mos Def talks about how he's living every day in this world, and trying to find a way to make a change, but no one seems to know how to come together anymore.

One of the album's singles, "Life in Marvelous Times," just about sums up the entire piece. While telling all the gritty details of his life story, from remembering better times as a fifth grader, to "no space in the budget for a cake, it's when you gotta fly by night to save the day." I'd say this album is definitely worth a listen, whether you catch the songs on the internet or go out and pick up the album.
